Dog DayCare

The North Mountain Dog Ranch provides the perfect environment for your furry friend, whether you are out at work or just want your dog to have fun, burn off energy or improve their social skills! We make sure NMDR dogs are happy and healthy by providing exercise, love, stimulation and socialisation, in a safe, secure and fully supervised environment. Our enrichment led facility means your dog will have the option to sniff, wag, dig, run, splash (in summer!) or just chill out on one of the sofas or daybeds, whatever they enjoy most! Active dogs can expect upwards of 5 hours of exercise with us, with rest breaks when needed, so they will definitely come home happy and tired! We only ever use positive reinforcement techniques and have strict capacity limits, with no more than 10 dogs in our care at any one time. Whether your dog wants to play full on all day, or have a bit of rest and relaxation, we can cater to their needs.

We offer a convenient, reliable service, collecting your dog in the morning from your home, and dropping them back in the afternoon, after a day of playing, exploring and resting with their dog buddies. Please click here to see the areas our dog taxi covers.

If you live outside our collection area, or are looking for a shorter day, we are sometimes able to allow you to drop off and collect your dog at specific times. Please go to our FAQs section for more information.

Our facilities include:

One acre fully fenced play area with grass, sandpit, tires, trees, logs, splash pool (summer only) and daybeds.
Our purpose built temperature controlled dog cabin, full of plush dog beds, chairs and couches for a nice relaxing rest, if desired.
Cabin woodstove for your dog to relax around the fire in the colder months.

North Mountain Dog Ranch offers a safe and caring environment that is adaptable for all dogs, big or small, young or old. We get to know each dog personally, giving us the confidence to properly look after our clients, ensuring they have the best possible time!

The number of daycare dogs we look after is limited to a maximum of 10, so that there is ample space, supervision and attention for all. We encourage socialization, but safety and wellbeing are our number one concern. Not taking on too many dogs prevents them from feeling overwhelmed, or getting overexcited! It dramatically reduces the potential for disagreements or unwanted escalations. We take our time integrating new members into our fur squad, which is why our dogs get on so well with one another. Overall, keeping numbers small makes for a much calmer, constructive environment and enables increased one-on-one attention. It also allows dogs who are initially more shy to work on their confidence and social skills, as there is more time and space for them.

Please note, a certain standard of behavior is expected from your dog. Daycare is NOT a substitute for proper training and additional exercise.

Pricing:

Daycare (including collection and drop off) : $42 per dog (+HST)

Daycare (owner drop and collect): $38 per dog (+HST)

How do I enroll my dog in daycare?
In the first instance, we will invite you to come and visit the Ranch with your dog one evening (in summer) or weekend, so that you can see where your dog will be having fun! We can then arrange a first day (usually on a 'quieter' day, with no other newbies) for your dog to spend the day with us., and then we can look at regular bookings. This 3-stage process has been very successful in terms of dogs feeling settled and at ease, getting to know Holly and the other dogs we look after gradually, rather than throwing them in at the deep end! From then on you are able to book in whenever you need, depending on space.

Will my dog be supervised at all times?
Yes. Your dog will be under constant supervision, and will NEVER be left unattended nor out of sight.

Do I need to book in the same days each week?
No, however we do require daycare dogs to come at least one day every two weeks, as this keeps a consistent environment for all attendees. In line with our values and philosophy, we run a small, bespoke establishment and so places are limited, and our cancellation policies are strict. This is so all dogs get the best experience and lots of attention! We recommend booking in as far in advance as you are able.

Do I need to be home when you collect or drop off my dog?
No. Depending on which dogs we have on a particular day, and where they live, our pick up and drop off times vary from day to day as our route changes. We cannot guarantee an exact pick up or drop off time and so we carry a set of keys for all our clients.

What happens if my dog doesn’t get on with another dog?

We are strict in terms of the numbers of dogs we take on, to ensure they can establish individual relationships, and have enough space to relax when they want to. Our dogs are supervised at all times, so interactions can be carefully monitored, and 99% of the time this eliminates any issues. Should there be any problems, we have various areas so dogs can be separated, and then we will discuss the behavior with you.

What do you do when it rains?

Mainly, we get wet! The vast majority of dogs do not care about the rain, and we encourage them to exercise as much as they would like. We do however have great tree cover, several rooved areas as well as our 288sqft purpose-built cabin, which they have constant access to. We don't recommend that you book their grooming for the day before daycare, and have a towel ready for when they come home if it's raining!

Are you open for daycare at the weekends?

No, daycare runs from Monday to Friday. We do offer boarding at the weekends, please click here for more details.
